Plans for Summer

Unbelievably it is almost summer. The Memoriable Day weekend always  seems like the start of summer.  I have been working in the yard a little bit every day and there is plenty of work ahead. Our yard is too big but I love it.  It has privacy and when you are in the back yard it feels as though you are in the great out of doors.  I have been thinking about what I want to do this summer and I have come up with a few things.

I want to walk more. One of the places I want to walk is up City Creek Canyon which starts near down town Salt Lake City. I used to live in the upper avenue section of Salt Lake City and when I did I walked City Creek Canyon often. During one period of time I walked up the Canyon several times per week.  The walk is on a paved road going up almost six miles to Rotary Park.  It is a beautiful walk.  Now than I live some 17 miles from downtown Salt Lake, I don't walk the Canyon.  This summer I am going to walk up the Canyon at least once.

I am going to take a chair to the farthest reach of my back yard and read.

I am going to have at least one breakfast and one lunch at Ruth's Diner in Emmigration Canyon.

I am going to go at least once to the Farmer's Market in downtown Salt Lake.

I am going to at least one Salt Lake Bees baseball game.  The Bees are Salt Lake's AAA baseball team.  The ball park is beautiful with its wonderful view of the Wasatch Mountains.

I am going to drive the Mirror Lake Road through the Uintah Mountains.

The Lovely Sharon and I will host her extended family party in our yard. Relatives from Nebraska, Texas, California and other locales are expected to attend.

I am going to have at least 4 cook outs on my deck with friends.

Of course I will play some golf, visit family and read.

I have meetings in San Francisco and will be accompanied by the Lovely Sharon.

The Lovely Sharon and I will plan an autumn hoilday to France .

I want to enjoy the flowers, the trees and, the birds in my yard.

Utah summers are wonderful and I plan to maximize my enjoyment of summer activities.  You never know what lies ahead in life.  This will be my last summer before I turn 60.  An odd thought to me.
